BATCE students bring the energy at annual sports

Build­ing on the theme, Jour­ney Through Time, stu­dents at the Bish­op Anstey Trin­i­ty Col­lege East sixth form trans­formed the school’s sa­van­nah in­to an his­tor­i­cal and fu­tur­is­tic space, as the six hous­es vied for the top spots in the in­sti­tu­tion’s an­nu­al sports day on March 25.

The hous­es are named af­ter ar­eas in Trinci­ty, and their mem­bers came up with cre­ative con­cepts to por­tray the theme, us­ing dra­ma and dance to add some flair to the march past. Beaulieu por­trayed the In­dus­tri­al Rev­o­lu­tion; Row­land, Space Age/Fu­ture Age; Dins­ley show­cased Me­dieval Times; Mon­tague, Pre­his­toric Age; Sun­rise delved in­to the Dig­i­tal Age; and Ar­ca­dia, An­cient Civil­i­sa­tion.

Af­ter weeks of prac­tice, each house de­liv­ered its rou­tine with pre­ci­sion, much to the de­light of judges and spec­ta­tors. But when the dust set­tled, Ar­ca­dia’s por­tray­al of Hyari­ma, the war-chief of the in­dige­nous peo­ple of T&T, gave the house a three-peat in the march past.

Mon­tague won the tro­phy for the high­est score in the over­all sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties.
