The funeral of the singing icon, Hani Chaker, began this Wednesday, after his death last Sunday. The artist died following a long illness against which he fought in a hospital in the French capital, Paris.
The ceremony brought together a crowd of personalities from the world of culture and the media who came to pay a final tribute to the deceased. Among the celebrities present were singers Mustafa Amar and Iheb Taoufik, as well as actresses Najoua Fouad, Mervat Amin and Lobloba. Other notable figures such as Arkan Fouad, Helmy Abdel Baqy, Nadia Mostafa, the journalist Mahmoud Kamel, and the presenters Ahmed Moussa and Hala Sarhan were also present to pay tribute to his memory.
Throughout his immense career, Hany Shaker left his mark on the history of Arab music with a rich repertoire of more than 600 songs and 29 albums. Among his most emblematic works, we will remember titles such as Aly El Dehkaya, Ya Reitni, El Helm El Gamil, Jalhi Ana and Keda Bardo Ya Amar. His suave voice and romantic melodies had earned him a unique place in the hearts of the public, spanning generations.
Beyond singing, he also distinguished himself in the cinema, notably in the films When Love Sings and This One I Like, This One I Want, as well as on the stage at the theater. A figure committed to the defense of his art, he was elected head of the Egyptian Musicians’ Union in 2015. During his mandate, he distinguished himself by numerous reforms aimed at organizing and preserving the ethics of the Egyptian artistic scene.
