Kosovo recorded a trade deficit of 568 million euros in August

Kosovo recorded a trade deficit of 568 million euros in August of this year, according to data on foreign trade in goods. During this period, export covered only 15 percent of import.
According to the data of the Statistics Agency, in August 2026 Kosovo exported goods worth 100.5 million euros, which represents an increase of 31.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the import reached 668.5 million euros, marking an increase of 9 percent compared to August 2025.
The trade deficit in August was 568 million euros, while in the same period of 2025 it was 536.8 million euros, which represents an increase of 5.8 percent.
In the structure of exports, the major part is made up of basic metals and their articles with 21.8 percent. They are followed by mineral products with 15.5 percent, prepared foods, beverages and tobacco with 13.3 percent, plastics, tires and their articles with 8.8 percent, as well as various manufactured articles with 6.5 percent.
As for imports, mineral products account for 19.8 percent of the total. After them are prepared foods, beverages and tobacco with 13.1 percent, means of transport with 11.7 percent, machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment with 11.5 percent, as well as basic metals and their articles with 8 percent.
Kosovo’s exports to EU countries reached 30 million euros, or about 30.2% of total exports, with an increase of 29.8%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (10.2%), Italy (3.0), the Netherlands (2.2%), etc.
Kosovo’s imports from EU countries were around 279 million euros, or 41.7% of total imports, with an increase of 6.6%. Imports with the highest participation were from: Germany (13.6%), Italy (4.2%), Poland (3.7%), etc.
