After Nuuk Imeq closed in early 2024, stores and customers began buying soda and beer directly from suppliers. This means that there is no longer a basis for running a warehouse business, KNI informs. In connection with the closures, 14 employees have been made redundant.
Before Nuuk Imeq closed in 2024, the stores bought soft drinks and beer from KNI’s warehouses. But when the bottling plant closed, the situation changed.
– The warehouse function was established at a time when KNI was responsible for the distribution of beer and water. After the changes in the legislation, this distribution has largely ceased, because the customers now get the goods delivered directly from the suppliers.
– The warehouse’s original function has therefore ceased to exist, writes director of HR, communication and sustainability at KNI, Juliane Henningsen Heilmann.
The closure of the warehouses in the three cities has meant that KNI has had to dismiss 14 employees. At the same time, the company states that there are no plans for further closures.
