King Charles III’s visit to the White House, Trump: The ties between the US and Britain will be forever unbreakable

US President Donald Trump officially welcomed the British royal couple to the White House, emphasizing that the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom will remain “forever unbreakable.”
The visit was formalized today, after the meeting the day before had been informal. During the reception in Washington, Trump also made a joke about the rainy weather, saying that King Charles III had brought with him “typical British weather.”
In his speech, Trump symbolically referred to a tree planted by Queen Elizabeth II during a previous visit to the White House, calling it a “living symbol” of the centuries-old ties between the two countries. He stressed that the tree, which has now grown significantly, reflects the development of bilateral relations, adding that, like the United States, it was “planted by British hands on American soil.”
The American president underlined that, after US independence, “Americans have had no closer friends than the British,” while describing King Charles III as “a very elegant man” and predicting that his speech to Congress will leave an impression.
Referring to shared history, Trump emphasized that the American ideal of freedom was not simply born in 1776, but is the result of centuries of thought, effort, and sacrifice on both sides of the Atlantic.
He also added that he and his wife will not forget last year’s visit to Windsor Castle, saying that members of the royal family will have a pleasant stay during their visit to the US.
