The newly appointed United States Chargé d’Affaires in Venezuela, John Barrett, began his official agenda in Caracas with a meeting with the interim president Delcy Rodriguezin which lines of action for the bilateral relationship between both countries were addressed.
The meeting, held at the Miraflores Palace, had the participation of key figures of the Venezuelan governmentas well as other representatives of the economic and diplomatic area.
According to the news outlet El Nacional, during the meeting, Barrett insisted in the need to advance the implementation of the three-phase strategic plan promoted by the administration of President Donald Trumpwhich includes stages of stabilization, recovery and transition.
According to him, this roadmap seeks to generate concrete benefits for both the Venezuelan population and US citizens.
It was also highlighted that this approach is part of a broader process of reactivating diplomatic channels between Caracas and Washington.
Barrett, who took over after the departure of Laura Dogu, arrived in Venezuelan territory this April 23 and since then he has reiterated that his mission will be focused on consolidating this strategy together with the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio.
