Lorris Jarrett, former deputy financial secretary in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service’s Public Expenditure Division, has been appointed financial secretary, succeeding Darlene Morrison.
The appointment takes effect on November 2, the ministry announced in a staff notice.
Jarrett brings experience in public financial management, policy implementation and fiscal governance, and is expected to lead the ministry’s efforts to maintain fiscal responsibility, advance policy innovation and support economic stability.
The ministry expressed gratitude to Morrison for her years of service and contributions to the management of Jamaica’s public finances and economic development.
It credited her with providing leadership and stewardship during her tenure, saying her contributions had left a lasting mark on the ministry and the wider public service.
The ministry’s management and staff have pledged their full support to Jarrett as she assumes the senior executive position.
