The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Vahe Hovhannisyan and the President of the Central Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan participated in the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) Partnership Group, which was held under the title “Transforming uncertainty into long-term opportunity”.
“Armenpress”According to the press release of the Ministry of Finance, it is stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues related to ensuring economic stability and long-term growth in the conditions of high uncertainty in the world economy, geopolitical developments and ongoing structural transformations.
Within the framework of the meeting, Vahe Hovhannisyan had bilateral meetings with IMF Executive Director Kristalina Georgieva, Chief Treasurer of the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Jasper Wesseling, WB Europe and Central Asia Vice President Antonella Bassani, as well as WB Vice President for Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence Sangboo Kim.
During the meetings, reference was made to Armenia’s macroeconomic developments, upcoming prospects, the progress of WB programs in Armenia, the programs implemented with IMF support, as well as the results of the “Climate Policy Diagnostic” mission and their next steps. In addition, the agenda of digital transformation and opportunities for deepening cooperation in this field, including the development of digital infrastructures, strengthening of cyber security and initiatives aimed at digitization of government services, were also discussed.
