In Mexicofrom the year 2000 to the present, 177 communicators and journalists have been murdered in relation to their informative work, according to the civil association Article 19.
Of this number, 165 were men and 12 women. The entities where the most murders have been committed are Veracruz with 33 cases, Warrior with 19, and Chihuahua, Guerrero and Tamaulipas (15 each).
The year in which the most murders occurred was 2022 with 13, among which those of Margarito Martínez, Lourdes Maldonado and Armando Linares López stand out. This is the list of cases by six-year period:
- Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León (1994-2000): 3
- Vicente Fox Quezada (2000-2006): 22
- Felipe Calderón Hinojosa (2006-2012): 48
- Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018): 27
- Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024): 47
- Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo (2024-present): 10
The most recent case is that of Luis Ángel López Valdésred note reporter in the newspaper Veracruz Vanguardwhich happened in Poza Rica, Veracruz, on June 11.

At the same time, this non-governmental organization documents the disappearance of 33 communicators and journalists, of which 29 were men and four women.
The last case is that of Roxana Berenice Guzmán Ramírezreporter and director of the local media outlet Southeast Information Pulsewhose house, located in the municipality of Nanchital, Veracruz, at least three armed men entered to deprive her of her freedom on June 2. His whereabouts are still unknown.
