Speech bubble number 639. Why the fear of the job apocalypse is spreading.
Easter with its resurrection story was not that long ago. But for a long time now it has been the scary (beautiful) tales of doom that are (quite successfully) vying for our attention.
One of them tries to make it clear in her name what it’s about. It comes across as – attention, speech bubble – jobocalypse. Supported by various surveys, studies and calculations on the effectiveness of the applications of artificial intelligence, this apocalyptic story describes the downfall of the world of work as we previously knew it. And there is something to it: jobs that require knowledge or theoretical knowledge, but not experience, are at serious risk.
But there is also another interpretation: that AI creates new jobs. Appropriate training and further education required. Well then! Hopefully HR people and the like understand the Jobo and apocalypse in their other meaning: that as a revelation.
Feel in the “speech bubble”.
