The violence began shortly after six o’clock on Terrylee Crawford Street in Belize City, where gunfire claimed the first life of the night. Before the evening ended, two more men would be dead in separate shootings. News Five’s Shane Williams has our coverage of the first killing.

“This is where Belize’s bloody Wednesday night began, right here on Terrylee Crawford Street, where forty-three-year-old Honduran Denny Gurvara was shot and killed shortly after six p.m.”

“Upon arrival, information was that a male person had been shot. He was identified as Dennis Gurvara, forty-three years of Belize City. He is a Honduran national. He was taken to the KHMH where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigation is that Guevara was in the area when he was approached by a male person who fired several shots towards his direction, causing his fatal injuries.”

“Residents say Gurvara was not from this neighborhood, but he was seen just earlier going door to door asking if anyone had scrap gold and other jewelry to sell. They say he was not in front of the shop for more than five minutes when he was attacked.”

“The information we get is that he used to purchase scrap gold and someone asked to meet him there, and thereafter the person asked him for monies and there after he was shot.”
