The Colombian president, Gustavo Petrowas shipped this Friday, in The Breakfasts of RTVE and EFEagainst the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, whose “Zionist fundamentalism” is pushing Donald Trump to the destruction of humanity and praised Spain’s position regarding the war in Iran in a context in which in Europe “Hitler is alive again”, in reference to the extreme right.
Petro defended that Trump is surrounded by “communication bubbles that surround him permanently and due to prejudices,” and that one of those bubbles is that of Rubio, who “sees Fidel Castro in each of us.”

“Trump in that office lives surrounded by bubbles, by people outside of him, each with a different agenda and competing with each other (…) I saw the most problematic agenda in Marco Rubio, imbued with Zionist fundamentalism,” he stressed.
According to the president, who was one of the strongest voices against Israel since the beginning of the offensive in Gaza, Trump is finding himself “pulled” (pushed) by the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, into “a very destructive bloc for humanity,” he defended in the interview led by journalists Pepa Bueno (TVE), Emilia Pérez (EFE) and Juan Tato (RNE).
Spain, at the forefront of Europe
Petro arrived in Spain to participate in two summits taking place over the weekend in Barcelona: the Global Progressive Mobilization and the VI Meeting in Defense of Democracy, both convened by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez.
From Barcelona, he assured: “It seems to me that the Spanish position is at the forefront in Europe; confronting that what they have done in Iran is an aggression that breaks with international law and accepting that migration is not impoverishing Europe, as Hitler said of the Jews, but enriching it.”
Especially at a time when Adolf Hitler “is alive again in Europe” through “racial hatred of foreigners” that allows far-right formations to win elections.
“Diversity is the source of wealth. Now, xenophobia and winning elections through hatred of foreigners and racial hatred, because it is not just any foreigner, because it depends on the color of the skin, that is called Hitler. That is Hitler. Hitler is alive again in Europe and wants to send bombers to bomb European cities, as he did nearby,” lamented Petro, Colombia’s first left-wing president.
Venezuela and Cuba
In addition, he once again criticized the interference in Venezuela and Cuba, where he alleged that the US blockade constitutes a “genocide” because it entails “killing a people from hunger.”
The president said that the United States “plans to attack with missiles, impose itself” in Cuba, in reference to Trump’s threats to take over the island by force and, in his opinion, “they should not do it.”
“So what should be done with Cuba? Talk,” he commented next, adding: “Cuba is different from Venezuela” and the United States does not see that, because the island “lived a profound revolution, a real one,” the president argued.
Regarding Venezuela, he stressed that he is not a friend of Nicolás Maduro, but regretted that his capture and the American “aggression” in Caracas “is an irreversible wound, difficult to heal for generations to come,” something he told Trump during their meeting, to which the Republican remained silent.
Petro will travel to Caracas next Friday the 24th to seek the meeting, which was postponed in March at the border, with the acting president Delcy Rodríguez, although he did not confirm that they would meet: “If Muhammad does not come to me, I will go to the mountains. And then I will go to Caracas.”
