Yousef bin Abdul Hussein Khalaf, Minister of Labor and Minister of Legal Affairs, headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the work of the 114th session of the International Labor Conference of the International Labor Organization, held in Geneva from June 1 to 12 of this month. The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain includes representatives of the three production parties, in addition to Ambassador Abdullah Abdul Latif Abdullah, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the European headquarters of the United Nations, and a number of members of the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom in Geneva.
In the Kingdom of Bahrain’s speech during the conference, the Minister affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is replete with distinguished experience in maintaining the sustainability of labor market growth, by supporting promising economic sectors, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and developing the environment supportive of investment in the digital economy, noting the qualitative transformation and development that the Kingdom has witnessed. In educational and training programs related to digital and technical fields, and supporting rehabilitation and continuous training initiatives, and skills development to meet future labor market requirements.
Khalaf stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continued efforts to qualify national cadres in the digital fields and artificial intelligence technology, by launching initiatives to prepare cadres in the public and private sectors and training them in technical fields that are compatible with the requirements and developments of the labor market, enhancing employment opportunities in information technology, encouraging innovation, and aligning education and training outcomes with the needs of the labor market, in a way that supports the stability of the market and its ability to adapt to economic and technological changes.
The Minister of Labor and Minister of Legal Affairs renewed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s condemnation of the sinful Iranian attacks on the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, stressing that the Kingdom, under the wise leadership of the King, was able, with steadfastness and a firm vision, to overcome various challenges, while government policies, under the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, contributed to consolidating the foundations of stability and enhancing the process of economic and societal development.
Khalaf said, “The Kingdom of Bahrain considers digital transformation an opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of the economy, develop the labor market, and raise the efficiency of human resources, in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 to develop the work environment and enhance the economy based on knowledge and innovation.” In his speech, Yousef bin Abdul Hussein Khalaf, Minister of Labor and Minister of Legal Affairs, praised the report of Gilbert Hongbo, Director-General of the International Labor Organization, which is being reviewed by the current session of the conference on harnessing artificial intelligence for decent work, pointing out that artificial intelligence has become an essential part of economic, social and development policies, and its importance in supporting investment in skills and social protection.
