The Office for Civil Protection provides information about the adjustment of the forest fire risk, which applies tomorrow. “The below-average rainfall of the last few months, combined with the persistent sunny and hot weather, is leading to a pronounced dryness,” explains the authority. As a result, the risk of forest fires is high across the country (level 4 out of 5).
The lighting of open fires in the forest and near the forest is therefore prohibited from tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24th, until further notice. Barbecue areas, including permanently set up ones, in the forest or near the forest may not be used. Smoking products and lighters may not be thrown away. The situation is only expected to ease after heavy rainfall. The office emphasizes that short rain showers cannot sufficiently alleviate the severe dryness. (ikr)
