Michael Patrickactor known for his appearance in the series “game of Thrones“died this Tuesday night after a long fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
The news was announced by his wife, Naomi Sheehan, who used social networks to dedicate an emotional message to the love of her life.
In the text, Sheehan revealed that the actor He spent his last days in a hospital from Northern Ireland and left peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
“There are no words to describe how devastated we are. Mick was an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of being in contact with him, not just in the last few years during his illness, but every day of his life,” she wrote.
Patrick was diagnosed in February 2023 and decided to document her process on social networks, not only to raise awareness about this disease, but also to ask for financial help and cover her expenses.
In her tribute, Naomi remembered Mick as a “red-haired giant” and a true inspiration, since his condition did not take away his desire to live fully.
“He lived a life as full as any human being can live: joy, abundance of spirit, contagious laughter,” he added.
Michael Patrick was an actor, writer and screenwriter. Before discovering his love for acting, Patrick studied physics at the Cambridge Universitywhere he joined the group Cambridge Footlights.
Later, he trained as an actor at the Mountview Academy of Theater Arts and spent much of his career in the theater.
He wrote and performed the monologue “My Left Nut”, based on his adolescence, which was nominated for best show at the Dublin Fringe Festival and won a Summerhall Lustrum award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In 2024 it became the first disabled actor to play Richard III in Ireland and his work was praised by critics.
