    From the application to the amount received: what is important to remember for those leaving the second stage of pension accumulation | Business

    I have applied to withdraw – what’s next?

    Residents submit requests to terminate pension accumulation in the second stage to their pension accumulation companies. It examines applications on a quarterly basis and makes decisions at the end of them. The money is transferred to the person within the first ten working days of the next quarter.

    For example, if a person submitted a request to withdraw from accumulation in 2026. on May 19, the pension accumulation company will make a decision after the end of the quarter – after June 30, and will transfer the money to the person’s account until 2026. July 15

    According to the general procedure for implementing the reform, if a person applies to a pension savings company in the transition period from 2026 January 1 until 2027 December 31 due to:

    • termination of pension accumulation and withdrawal of accumulated assets;
    • until 2025 December 31 termination of the voluntarily purchased annuity and withdrawal of the remaining part of the property, if the annuity was purchased for a lower amount than the minimum limit of the pension annuity;
    • until 2025 December 31 termination of the concluded periodic payment agreement and withdrawal of the remaining unpaid part of the property;

    There will be money for that resident to be paid at the end of the quarterduring which he submitted an application to his pension accumulation company – during the first 10 working days of the next quarter.

    There are cases when the funds are paid to the person faster after the application is submitted. If a person applies to a pension accumulation company for the payment of assets or a part of assets and meets at least one of the following conditions:

    • the level of participation does not exceed 30%;
    • a person is assigned palliative care;
    • diagnosed with a serious illness from the list approved by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Social Security and Labour. You can find the list here;
    • there are 5 years left until retirement age, and the accumulated assets are less than 50%. minimum pension annuity limits (in 2026 it is EUR 8,392.50);
    • the person has reached retirement age, and the accumulated assets do not reach the minimum limit of the pension annuity;
    • an early old-age pension has been assigned, and the accumulated assets do not reach the minimum pension annuity limit;
    • a person wants to withdraw 25 percent. accumulated wealth;

    That person will have money to be paid within 30 calendar days from the date of adoption of the decision to pay out the property/part of it.

    It is important to know that simply submitting a request does not automatically stop accruals. Contributions continue to be deducted until the pension accumulation company makes a decision to stop accumulation or the person himself submits a separate request to stop contributions.

    What amount goes back to the withdrawer and how much to Sodra?

    Part of the state and “Sodra” contributions will be transferred to “Sodra” and will be converted into accounting units. This will increase a person’s future superannuation.

    Contributions paid by the person, the employer and the investment result from all contributions will be transferred to the bank account. There will be no additional taxes or deductions from this amount, and it will not be considered as insured income, which is important for calculating and awarding Sodra benefits.

    However, the amount withdrawn will have an impact on obtaining cash social support from the municipality or other social services. Funds transferred from the pension fund will be treated as income.

    How funds transferred to “Sodra” turn into pension accounting units

    “Sodros” and state incentive contributions, after a person withdraws from pension accumulation, are converted into pension accounting units according to the same formula as the accounting units acquired by working people are calculated annually.

    One pension accounting unit is acquired when pension social insurance contributions are paid during the year from income equal to 12 average wages (VDU) used to calculate the base of state social insurance contributions in that year:

    • In 2026, VDU amounts to 2,312.15 euros. This means that a person receiving such a monthly salary earns 27,745.80 euros per year.
    • The pension social insurance contribution rate is 8.72 percent. Therefore, EUR 2,419.43 of pension social insurance contributions are paid per year from this salary (EUR 27,745.80 x 8.72%).
    • Consequently, in 2026, to acquire one pension accounting unit, 2,419.43 euros of pension social insurance contributions must be paid per year.

    For example, if 5,000 euros are transferred from the pension fund to “Sodra” after the participant leaves, this amount is divided by 2,419.43 euros. In this case, a person additionally acquires 2.07 pension accounting units, which will later increase his individual pension share.

    Each year, the individual part of the pension depends not only on the number of available accounting units, but also on their value in that year. in 2026 the value of the accounting unit is 8.11 euros.

    Where can you see how many accounting units a person will get

    Residents will be able to see the total number of accumulated pension accounting units by logging into their personal “Sodra” account https://gyventojai.sodra.lt.

    More detailed information about how many additional accounting units a person received after withdrawing from pension accumulation will be available after creating an updated summary REP.49.1 “Detailed information on a person’s acquired accounting units for retirement pension”.

    The summary shows data for the year in which the person withdrew from the accumulation – including previous periods. For example, if a person quit in 2019, then came back and quit again in 2026, the summary will show data for both years.

    In order to find out the amount of contributions from Sodra and the state returned to Sodra, residents should form a summary REP.11 “Cumulative pension contributions transferred to pension funds”. At the bottom of it, the transferred amounts and the fact that the person is no longer a participant in the accumulation are indicated.

    Forms for all summaries are located in the “About Me” section of your account.

    Please note: Protect your data

    As the experience of the last quarter has shown, financial scams may become more active at the beginning of July, when those who have left savings will wait for funds from pension savings companies.

    It is important to remember that Sodra never sends messages asking for money transfers, confirmation of bank transactions, bank card or e-mail. write data or make urgent financial decisions. If you receive this or a similar fraudulent message in the name of “Sodra” – do not click on anything, but inform “Sodra” about it.

    We remind you that all e-mail Residents will find messages received by mail from “Sodra” in their accounts, so if in doubt, they can be checked by logging in to their account and compared.
