
Joseph Anatole, widely known as “Joe Black,” of Castle Bruce, has died following an apparent drowning incident in Concord, police have confirmed. He was 61 years old and had been residing in the community of Concord.
According to Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Fixton Henderson, officers from the Marigot Police Station responded to a report at approximately 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, after Anatole was found unresponsive in a river behind his residence.
He was rushed to the Marigot Hospital, where a medical doctor pronounced him dead later that evening.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the apparent drowning.
Anatole’s body has been taken to a funeral home, where it will remain pending an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has expressed its sincere condolences to Anatole’s family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
