Italian coach Francesco Calzona is no longer the coach of the Slovak national football team.
Several Italian sources, led by a journalist, informed about it Gianluca di Marzio. The information was also brought by another renowned journalist, Nicola Schira.
The Slovak Football Association responded to the news with a statement in which it stated that SFZ representatives would meet with Francesco Calzono for next week.
Calzona took over the team in the summer of 2022. His handwriting was fully manifested in the qualification for EURO 2024, where Slovakia achieved a balance of 7 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses and secured promotion to the championship.
The highlight of his career so far was the tournament in Germany itself. Under his leadership, Slovakia shocked with a victory over Belgium (1:0), but subsequently lost to Ukraine and drew with Romania.
It was extremely close to a sensation against England in the round of 16, but a late goal conceded and a loss after extra time spelled the end.
