Many young people in China aren”t “lying flat” — they’ve simply embraced a lifestyle that is different from their parents’. In a recent interview with China Daily’s Dialogues with Thinkers, Wang Yuehan, a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, cited the booming stand-up comedy scene as an example.
She noted that a new ethos is emerging among China’s younger generation in response to a changed social landscape: many of them are no longer working solely for survival, instead they are turning their passions into their careers.
