The Municipality of Montevideo (IM) announced that the capital will have street closures and traffic detours during the next few days for the filming of the series from Netflix “The Future is Ours”an international production that will be filmed in different parts of the city, with its epicenter in Ciudad Vieja.
The first movements began with parking reservations on Piedras Street since Monday, May 4, in the section of Juan Carlos Gómez between Piedras and 25 de Agosto, and Piedras between Juan Carlos Gómez and Juncal.
Cuts from Thursday the 7th to Sunday the 10th
Starting Thursday, May 7 at 6:00 a.m., traffic cuts will be implemented that will extend until Sunday 10 at 11:00 p.m.
During this period, Piedras Street will remain closed in sections between Misiones and Juncal, although circulation through the perpendicular streets will be maintained.
On Saturday, May 9 from 6:00 a.m. until Sunday the 10th at 11:00 p.m., the cuts will be extended to several key intersections:
- Stones and Zabala
- Misiones and Cerrito
- August 25 and Rambla
- Rambla 25 de Agosto and Treinta y Tres
- Ituzaingó and Cerrito
- Rambla Roosevelt and Rambla 25 de Agosto
- Bartolomé Miter and 25 de Mayo
- Juncal and Cerrito
- Juan Carlos Gómez and 25 de Agosto (with circulation enabled on 25 de Agosto)
Restrictions on Sunday and Monday
On Sunday, May 10, between 06:00 and 22:00, the cuts will be reduced to:
- Piedras and Ituzaingó
- Bartolomé Miter and August 25
- Cerrito and Juncal
- Juan Carlos Gómez at the height of the rambla (passing through 25 de Agosto)
- Juan Carlos Gómez and May 25
On Monday, May 11, meanwhile, the intersection of Bartolomé Miter and Buenos Aires will be closed between 07:00 and 19:00, without affecting circulation through Buenos Aires.
Authorities indicated that, as filming progresses, new cuts and detours will be reported in other areas of the city. The production will have several weeks of filming in Montevideo and will cover different public and private locations in the capital.
