The murder of Carolina Flores Gomezformer beauty queen of the Miss Teen Universe Baja California pageant, has caused a stir in Mexico, not only due to the brutality of the crime, but also due to the appearance of a video that could be decisive in the investigation.
The young woman was found dead on April 15 at her home in Mexico City, with multiple gunshot wounds, at least six shots in the back, according to local media reports.
Her husband, her mother-in-law and her son, less than a year old, were there.
The video that shakes the case
The case took an even more shocking turn after a video, published by the journalist, was spread on social networks. Carlos Jimenezin which a tense discussion is heard prior to the shooting.
In the images, the victim is seen going to another room while her mother-in-law speaks to her. Seconds later, explosions are heard.
After the first shot, a scream is heard, followed by at least five more shots.
Minutes later, the victim’s husband appears on the scene and asks: “What was that?”to which his mother coldly replies: “Nothing, it made me angry.”.
The conversation continues with a phrase that has shocked those who follow the case.
The man demands: “What’s wrong with you? It’s my family.”and she answers: “My family is mine. You are mine and she stole me”.
What could be behind this crime?
The phrases heard in the video “it made me angry” and “you are mine and she stole from me” point to a possible complex emotional background that is now a key part of the analysis of the case.
Specialists usually link this type of expressions with intense family conflicts, where there may be feelings of possession, jealousy or rejection towards the child’s partner.
The pain of the family
The young woman’s mother, Reyna Gómez Molina, said that it was her son-in-law who informed her about her daughter’s death.
However, the conversation left more questions than answers. According to what he said, he asked him: “Alex, you were with the baby. Was La Caro lying there?”to which he responded: “Are you serious about your question?”.
