“Together, they form a bouquet that reflects the very spirit of Vincymas. But what makes this year even more powerful is the journey behind it,” said Jamie Crick, a member of the Carnival Development Corporation’s (CDC) Beauty Shows Committee.
“For nearly a year, these young women have been preparing for the competition, committing themselves to discipline and growth,” Crick said.
“They have trained, they are refined, and they have blossomed into confident ambassadors ready to represent themselves, their sponsors and their communities, ready to lead us into the carnival season.”
She said that on May 30, “Miss SVG will take its rightful place at the forefront of Vincymas, opening the festival under the team La Fleur Royale/The Royal Flower. And what a way to begin.
“Though the journey has required patience, we stand here confident that what lies ahead will be worth every painstaking moment, because with every moment that shapes us comes the opportunity to build something greater.”
Crick said that with Miss SVG returning to the carnival season, “we’re bringing something fresh and exciting”.
These include “Meet me in the market” on May 8, pitched as “a lively, down-to-earth experience where the public can meet the delegates, snap photos, share in their journey, all while spending the day and showing love and appreciation to the hardworking vendors of the various markets across St. Vincent”.
The contestants will take part in community motorcades on May 3 and 10 and in Kingstown on May 22.
“… the contestants will be travelling through communities across the island, bringing the spirit of Vincymas directly to the people, giving Vincentians a chance to meet them,” Crick said, adding that they will also attend CDC events.
“The show you know and love remains elevated and reimagined,” she said, adding that organisers continue to “embrace individuality and innovation”.
Crick said the swimwear segment will once again feature a unified colour palette, but each contestant will wear their own uniquely designed piece.
“The interview will see each delegate responding to two questions, one drawn at random, and one common to all.
“Cultural wear segment is themed ‘Once Upon A Village’, bringing our heritage and traditions together,” Crick said.
“Audiences can also look forward to the elegance of the evening wear and creativity of the talent,” she said.
