    Starting at seven in the morning this Sunday, the voting centers in the municipality of Guanaja They opened their doors to begin the repetition of the municipal elections.

    After a historic tie and months of uncertainty, citizens are already exercising their vote on a day marked by the surveillance of the security forces of the State.

    The installation process of the Vote Receiving Boards (JRV) in the municipality of Guanaja It was launched early this Sunday.

    He electoral staff was deployed in the different voting centers to ensure that the logistics were ready to receive the voters.

    Each enclosure has strict surveillance by elements of the Armed Forces and the National Policewho maintain a perimeter fence with the objective of ensuring an environment of order, transparency and trust for the island’s citizens.

    According to electoral planning, the electoral burden It amounts to 4,211 citizens qualified to vote. 13 have been enabled Vote Receiving Boards (JRV) distributed in four voting centers in the municipality: Cristóbal Colón School, José Trinidad Cabañas School, José Cecilio del Valle School and Modesto Rodas School.

    Several citizens have already exercised their right to suffrage peacefully and the authorities hope that the process concludes normally, avoiding any type of violent event that mars the day.

    General elections 2025

    Are elections are repeated after an appeal was presented in the elections on November 30 by the Liberal Partyrequesting the counting of votes in eight ballot boxes after an initial result that favored the National Party.

    After the official verification and recount, an absolute tie was confirmed between the main candidates: the liberal candidate, Sheray Bordenand the National Party candidate, Dion Kellywho obtained exactly 1,404 votes each.

    Due to this tie, the elections were originally rescheduled for March 15; However, on that occasion the process was suspended due to incidents that included fires in educational centers and protests that hindered democratic activity.
