Firefighters rescued the dead from the river on Friday in Jūrmala, on Sunday in Vecpiebalga parish of Cēsu county and Sēja parish of Saulkrasti county, from a lake and in Lenžu parish of Rēzekne county from a pond. Two more suspected dead people are being sought today.
On Saturday, a call was received to Gauja in Valmiera about a drowning minor – firefighters and rescuers searched the water body using a boat and a drone, as well as divers searched the river bed, but with the onset of darkness, shortly before midnight, the search ended. Yesterday, the search for a possibly drowned person in the river in Riga continued on Sunday as well.
In another case, on Sunday, firefighters and rescuers brought a person from the water body to the NMPD medics’ car, who may have broken both legs when jumping into the water from the shore, according to VUGD data.
