The Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU) has reported positive developments in its negotiations on behalf of employees at several institutions, including the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation and the Dominica State College.
In a recent release, the union said its members continue to express appreciation for the results of its representation, particularly following the implementation of some previously negotiated benefits.
According to the DPSU, employees of the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation received a payment equivalent to one month’s salary last week. The payment, commonly referred to as a “bubble,” had been negotiated earlier by the union on behalf of the workers.
Although discussions between the DPSU and the corporation’s management are still ongoing, some proposals already agreed upon by both parties have been put into effect.
The union’s General Secretary is also scheduled to meet with members on Wednesday, October 28, to establish their final position on salary increases for the 2024–2026 triennium.
Meanwhile, the DPSU reported that the Dominica State College received an increase in its subvention last week, providing the institution with the funding needed to pay salary increases resulting from adjustments to staff compensation.
Attention will also turn to the Agricultural, Industrial and Development (AID) Bank, where the union and management are expected to begin substantive salary negotiations on November 16, 2026.
However, discussions with the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) remain unresolved.
The DPSU indicated in its release that it is examining its options for addressing the impasse in salary negotiations with the authority.
