PARAMARIBO – A tragic incident on Lupsonweg cost the life of 58-year-old ‘doeman’ or traditional healer Marlon Lie-A-Lien on Monday evening. The man was stabbed to death during treatment by 35-year-old Kenneth S., who, according to the police, had been in a confused, trance-like state for some time.
According to the preliminary police investigation, the suspect was carrying a sharp object and exhibited confused behavior. His mother then contacted Lie-A-Lien to treat her son.
While performing rituals, Kenneth S. is said to have suddenly stabbed the physician in the chest area with the sharp object. Lie-A-Lien suffered a fatal stab injury and collapsed on the spot.
Emergency services were immediately called in. However, upon the arrival of medical personnel, it was determined that the victim no longer showed any signs of life.
The suspect was arrested by the police immediately after the incident and taken to the police station. On behalf of the Public Prosecution Service, Lie-A-Lien’s body was seized by the police for further investigation.
The police report that the investigation must reveal what exactly happened and what circumstances led to the fatal incident.
