RIMINI – Intervention by the State Police on the evening of Thursday 17 September in the center of Rimini, where a man was stopped after damaging several shop windows along Corso d’Augusto.
According to what the Police Headquarters reports, around 10.20pm a patrol from the Flying Section intervened after numerous reports. On site the officers found a group of people around a man, indicated by those present as the perpetrator of the damage. The man, shirtless and with some bloody cuts, was holding a stone in his hand and apparently reacted violently to the officers’ request to calm down and leave him on the ground.
The operators then immobilized him and accompanied him to the police station for checks. A subsequent check in Corso d’Augusto made it possible to verify the damage to numerous shop windows. The statement from the Police Headquarters reports complaints relating to aggravated theft, damage, resistance and insult to a public official.
However, a discrepancy emerges in the statement: the title speaks of an arrest, while the final text states that the man was “reported in a state of freedom”. For this reason, pending any clarifications from the Police Headquarters, it is more prudent to report that the man was stopped and accompanied to the police offices. The presumption of innocence remains until a final sentence is reached.
