Itinnera Solutions was honored with the self-government’s “Prospector of the year” award at the Raw Materials Fair in Toronto. Among other reasons, the company’s ability to think differently and innovatively was highlighted.
Itinnera Solutions ApSwhich was established in 2023 by professor of geology Minik Rosing, on Monday received the self-government’s mineral resource award “prospector of the year” at the mineral resource fair PDAC in Toronto.
Itinnera Solutions and the subsidiary Rock Flour Company have three exploration licenses in Greenland: Ilulialik in the Nuukfjorden, in Sermilik and at Frederikshåb Isblink near Paamiut, where they investigate whether the nutrient-rich fine glacial flour that is formed when the ice cap moves across the bedrock can be used as fertilizer and for CO2 capture.
The aim is to start the first large-scale experiments with agriculture in 2026.
Innovative and innovative
The raw material award was presented by naalakkersuisoq for business, raw materials, trade, the area of justice and equality, Naaja H. Nathanielsen (IA), who among other things emphasized the company’s ability to think differently and innovatively.
– In Greenland, we are proud of our natural resources. We are equally proud of our responsibility to use them wisely. The future of mining is not just about extracting more. It is also about understanding more, rethinking more and wasting less. Innovation and mining do not always mean digging deeper. Sometimes you have to think differently.
Signs of trust
For the company, the award is both a physical reminder of the collaboration with the municipality on the project, but also a sign of trust.
– This is a great recognition of our work. It’s a special project, but it’s nice to know that the self-government has confidence in us, said operations manager Eliot Booth after the award presentation.
In previous years, the award has gone to Amaroq Minerals, Greenland Resources, Bluejay Mining, Tanbreez, North American Nickel, London Mining and Ironbarks Zinc, among others.
