Havana (Cuba), June 1, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Ambassador to Cuba, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, gave a lecture on colonialism, a crime against humanity, on the sidelines of the conclusion of the activities commemorating Africa Day in the Cuban capital, Havana.
In his lecture, which he presented jointly with the South African Ambassador, the Sahrawi diplomat considered colonialism a crime against humanity, and also considered some acts committed during the era of slavery, deportation and colonialism as acts of genocide against the peoples of Africa.
Ibrahim Muhammad Mahmoud called for establishing a clear and frank legal approach that includes colonialism among the most serious international crimes, in a way that strengthens the principles of accountability, establishes the absence of impunity, and contributes to establishing fair historical justice for peoples.
Following the lecture, a memorial photo was taken for the African ambassadors to Cuba with the Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and the Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, in addition to the director of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples.
On the sidelines of the lecture, the Sahrawi Ambassador had several meetings with the Cuban authorities, who participated with the Africans in most of the activities of the African Day, including a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, a meeting with the Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, and a meeting with the Director of the Cuban Institute for Solidarity with Peoples.
During which the Sahrawi ambassador reviewed the areas of cooperation between the two countries and issues of common interest. (SPA)
