A 15-year-old student of a secondary school in Cedros was stabbed during an altercation involving students yesterday.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 9.30 a.m. when a police officer assigned to the school observed groups of students running towards a chain-link fence at the front of the compound.
The officer, who was attached to the Police Community Oriented Policing Unit, then noticed a commotion outside the school involving students who had exited a PTSC bus near the pavilion. The officer shouted at them to stop.
Moments later, two students entered the school compound and proceeded to the principal’s office. One of them, a Form Three student, was seen clutching his abdomen, with what appeared to be blood on his school uniform.
Police were alerted and the injured teenager was taken to the Cedros Health Centre, where he was examined before being transferred by ambulance to the Point Fortin General Hospital for further treatment.
The student remained under observation at the hospital.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
