New CFO for Bryden group

Shel­ley Sylvester has been ap­point­ed Group Chief Fi­nan­cial Of­fi­cer (CFO) of AS Bry­den & Sons Hold­ings (AS­BH).

In a no­tice post­ed to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Stock Ex­change yes­ter­day, the board of di­rec­tors of AS Bry­den an­nounced the ap­point­ment.

In the no­tice, AS­BH Group CEO, John De Sil­va said Sylvester will take up the role from Wednes­day Ju­ly 1, 2026 (to­day).

AS­BH said Sylvester brings over 20 years of ex­ten­sive fi­nan­cial man­age­ment and ex­ec­u­tive lead­er­ship ex­pe­ri­ence across re­gion­al and in­ter­na­tion­al ter­ri­to­ries.

Sylvester had most re­cent­ly been chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer of Guardian Gen­er­al In­sur­ance Lim­it­ed.

AS Bry­den and Sons Hold­ings Ltd has re­port­ed a de­cline in fi­nan­cial per­for­mance for the first quar­ter of 2026, re­flect­ing a chal­leng­ing op­er­at­ing en­vi­ron­ment across sev­er­al of its key Caribbean mar­kets, ac­cord­ing to its unau­dit­ed fi­nan­cial state­ments for the quar­ter end­ed March 31, 2026.

The group record­ed rev­enue of US$141.2 mil­lion for the three-month pe­ri­od, down from US$150.6 mil­lion in the same pe­ri­od last year.

Net prof­it at­trib­ut­able to share­hold­ers fell sharply to US$67,000 com­pared to US$3.2 mil­lion re­port­ed in the first quar­ter of 2025.

In June 2022, Ja­maican com­pa­ny Se­prod pur­chased a con­trol­ling 60 per cent stake in the T&T com­pa­ny for ap­prox­i­mate­ly US$45 mil­lion.

In May 2025, Se­prod is­sued a for­mal Take-Over Bid Cir­cu­lar to pur­chase up to 447,491,012 or­di­nary shares (rep­re­sent­ing a 29.85 per cent stake) to bring its to­tal own­er­ship of AS­BH up to 80 per cent.
