The famous “Burj Al Arab” hotel in Dubai, known worldwide as “Sail Hotel”, is closing its operations for a year and a half – Jumeirah Group announced this on Facebook.
“After more than 25 years, the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is embarking on a carefully planned, phased restoration program. This is not the end, but a deliberate pause dedicated to preserving the icon for future generations,” the statement said.
The long pause is said to be related not only to planned maintenance, but also to the consequences of military operations in the region – since the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East, Dubai has faced Iranian drone attacks.
“LuxuryTravelAdvisor” reports that on the first day of hostilities, February 28, the hotel facade caught fire as a result of a drone crash.
UAE Ministry of Defense reportedthat its forces intercepted 132 Iranian missiles and 195 drones during the day.
