Within the framework of National Breast Cancer Day, Incan urges women aged 40 and older to have free mammograms without a doctor’s order. With prior scheduling in person or via Call Center, the aim is to facilitate access to this vital study, supported by the paid work leave law to guarantee early detection in the country.

How to schedule a mammogram at Incan?
To guarantee organized care, the Incan requires a prior scheduling. Those interested can choose two ways:

Without a doctor’s order since the age of 40
One of the most important measures promoted by the Ministry of Health, under Resolution No. 336/2024, is the elimination of bureaucratic barriers. If you have 40 years or moremammography can be requested without the need for a doctor’s order.

As requirements and recommendations for the day of the study, Incan indicates that it is necessary:
- Introduce Identity Card current.
- Personal hygiene: Do not apply deodorant, powder or creams to the breast and armpit area on the day of the exam, as they may interfere with the image.
- Menstrual cycle: It is preferably recommended to perform the study a week after the menstrual period to reduce discomfort due to sensitivity.
It is essential that all workers, both public and private sectorknow that you have legal support to take care of your health. The Law No. 6211/18 grants two days of paid leave per year to undergo preventive Pap smears and mammography. This leave should not be deducted from vacations or salary, ensuring that the work factor is not an impediment to the annual control.
Surveillance and warning signs
Although mammography is the only method capable of detecting lesions before they are palpable, the Ministry of Health encourages knowledge of one’s own body through self-observation. You should consult immediately with:
- Appearance of lumps either hardening.
- Changes in the size or shape of the mother.
- Skin changes (redness or “orange peel” texture).
- Changes or secretion through the nipple.
- Persistent pain at a localized point.
