KOTA KINABALU (April 25): Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah is strengthening its leadership structure while reaffirming its commitment to the people’s agenda and the full implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
In a statement following BN Sabah’s first meeting of 2026 on Friday, its state liaison chief Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup said the meeting had finalised appointments to all state-level positions, combining experienced leaders with new faces, including youths.
“This restructuring combines experienced leadership with the inclusion of new leaders, including youth, to strengthen the party structure and ensure a more organised, dynamic and effective approach in addressing current challenges,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to the Sabah unity government machinery for its efforts during the recent by-election.
“Highest appreciation and thanks are extended to the entire Sabah unity government machinery for its commitment, hard work and spirit of synergy demonstrated throughout the recent by-election, which led to the victory of the Barisan Nasional candidates for Parliament P.187 Kinabatangan and State Assembly N.58 Lamag,” he said.
Arthur stressed that Sabah BN’s main priority remains the full implementation of Sabah’s rights under MA63.
“Sabah BN emphasises that its main priority now is to ensure the full implementation of Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said.
“This includes the demand for the 40 per cent revenue entitlement, strengthening of state powers, and the restoration of rights as agreed in the agreement,” he said.
He added that Sabah BN would continue to adopt a constructive approach to ensure all matters under MA63 are implemented comprehensively.
