MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Agricultural products have become the main driver of growth in exchange trade between Belarus and Dagestan in January-May 2026, German Puzyrny, Deputy Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), said during a meeting of the bilateral commission on cooperation coordination between the governments of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation on 25 June, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.
“In the first five months of this year, the total value of exchange transactions for the purchase and sale of agricultural products between Belarusian and Dagestan companies reached $3.3 million, twice as much as in the same period last year. Belarus mainly supplied unsalted butter to Dagestan, while Dagestan exported washed sheep wool to Belarus,” the exchange representative said.
At the same time, according to German Puzyrny, to ensure long-term positive dynamics in exchange trade between Belarus and Dagestan, work to attract Dagestan businesses to the BUCE platform needs to be intensified now. This would not only increase exchange trade but also expand the range of goods traded through exchange contracts.
“This year, two new participants from Dagestan joined our platform, bringing the total number of accredited Dagestan companies on the exchange to 12. In my view, this is insufficient to unlock the full potential of cooperation between the parties in exchange trading. Moreover, another constraining factor is the limited product range. Currently, just a few commodity items account for the lion’s share of exchange trade between Belarus and Dagestan. Deepening cooperation in these areas would have a positive impact on exchange trade figures and contribute to strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations overall,” the BUCE representative stressed.
