MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in the experience of Russia’s Tyumen Oblast in the field of geologic exploration for fuel and energy resources, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz.
A joint session of the working group on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation between Belarus and Tyumen Oblast took place in Minsk today. “Our interaction is of a long-term strategic nature. The oil and gas sector forms the basis of our trade turnover. It is Tyumen Oblast that is the main supplier of fuel and energy resources for Belarus. But, as the head of state says, one should never rest on their laurels, we always need to think about further development of relationships with Russian regions. The Energy Ministry and the Tyumen Oblast administration constantly work to find new areas of cooperation and expand them. The most promising ones are mechanical engineering, shipments of automotive vehicles to the Tyumen Oblast market, agriculture, and shipments of agricultural products. We see great potential in developing cooperation in the field of scientific research both in the general industrial area and in agriculture,” Denis Moroz said.
In his words, the year 2025 was significant for the development of relationships with Tyumen Oblast. “The governor visited Belarus, met with the president, and this gave an additional impulse to the development of our trade and economic relations. A number of strategic documents were prepared to define our interaction in various areas up to 2030. One of the areas is the president’s instruction that we should try to attract the competencies of Tyumen Oblast in the field of geological exploration in order to study the geological structure of Belarus for the sake of searching for fuel and energy resources. We know that we have such resources, but our technologies do not allow us to fully explore them today. Certainly, we are very interested in the deep and comprehensive experience of Tyumen Oblast. In accordance with the president’s instruction, a working group has been set up, interaction is underway between organizations of [the Belarusian state petrochemical concern] Belneftekhim and relevant companies in Tyumen Oblast, and there are already certain results,” the minister noted.
He also drew attention to the fact that the export of products to Tyumen Oblast grew significantly in 2025, and this dynamic persists at present. “For example, the supply of agricultural products in Q1 2026 grew more than two times,” Denis Moroz added.
An agreement on establishing cooperation between the Kletsk District Executive Committee of Minsk Oblast and the administration of the Nizhnyaya Tavda Municipal District of Tyumen Oblast was signed during the session.
