If a very large number of Muslims enter Latvia, then it must be assumed that at some point they will demand the construction of mosques, they will consider it an issue of their human rights and freedom of religion. Law enforcement officer Karina Palkova answered in the TV24 program “The week. Post scriptum” how she thinks the state should react to this.
According to the law enforcement officer, there should be a certain procedure in the country to allow or not allow construction. As long as there are no such problems, we live and do not adapt to the situation in any way.
K. Palkova said that two things must be distinguished – yes, there are people who have a different culture, faith, religion. Everyone has the right to have his own faith, religion – in his home, in his family. “But the national system should not be changed to any extent,” the law enforcement officer believes.
She admitted that she does not really know, but at the moment when there is a demand for the construction of a mosque, it will be interesting to see the political reaction. “But so far – we respect, we allow as long as our safety is not threatened, and we do not adapt,” he emphasized K. Palkova.
