KUCHING (June 17): The Borneo Blockchain Conference (BBCON) 2026 is scheduled to take place at the Voco by IHG Hotel here this Nov 18 and 19.
Organised by the Kuching Blockchain Technology Association (KBTA) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak and Metadise Sdn Bhd, the programme has also received support from the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak).
According to KBTA president Gan Beng Yoke, the programme is expected to gather 1,500 international delegates, and sets out to explore the next phase of digital transformation across the Borneo and Asean regions.
“Themed ‘From Vision to Execution: Building Secured Digital Future’, the conference will gather policymakers, technology experts, investors, start-ups, researchers, businesses and students to discuss how emerging technologies can help solve real challenges and create new opportunities,” he said during a press conference at Plaza Aurora here yesterday.
UiTM Sarawak rector Prof Dr Firdaus Abdullah, who was also present, hailed the conference as an important avenue for meaningful and knowledge exchange and collaboration between academia and industry.
“The objectives are closely aligned with Sarawak’s aspirations under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 which emphasise innovation, talent development, digital adoption and knowledge-driven growth.”
Meanwhile, SMA digital economy implementation and management unit head Shia Yang regarded collaboration as being essential in building a resilient and future-ready digital ecosystem that could support Sarawak’s long-term aspirations.
“As Sarawak continues advancing its digital economy agenda under the PCDS 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030, collaboration remains an important factor in ensuring that technological innovation delivers meaningful outcomes for businesses, institutions and communities,” he said.
