Deputy Ricardo Elencoff, who has followed up on the case, explained that the Honduran opted for an abbreviated procedure, a legal mechanism that allows the process to be resolved more expeditiously under certain conditions. He was arrested on February 5 in El Salvador by police officers from that country after, allegedly, trying to cross into Salvadoran territory with a minor without parental authorization.
