LOOK: ONPE results at 97.502%: consult the official count with a view to the second electoral round
TO ‘Porky‘ Lopez Aliaga You cannot calmly ask him if he will support Keiko. It would be impertinent because his speech, for now, is fixed point: an angry claim against the process. Theirs is a radical questioning of the legitimacy of the elections and maximalist requests for annulment; so, if it is proclaimed to Keiko Fujimori already Roberto SanchezRenovación Popular (RP) will maintain a rebellious and fractious behavior that may suspend an explicit taking of sides by the Fuerza Popular (FP) candidate, who is its natural option in that dilemma.

The presidential candidate Rafael López Aliaga (Renovación Popular) denounced a “fraud” in the 2026 General Elections (EG 206), held this Sunday, April 12, and gave the National Elections Jury (JNE) a period of “24 hours” to declare the elections null and run again, warning that he would call for civil insurgency. For these reasons, Keiko avoid directly confronting ‘Porky‘. She’s not going to try to seduce him, that would require more recklessness than she exhibits and a lot of leash to endure his slights. But he can seduce his electorate, biting his tongue when talking about his rival. It is entirely foreseeable that the identification with conservative and right-wing values that prevails in light blues will turn towards it. Now, in an election that could have very close results (the first Ipsos poll after the first round shows a tie of Keiko and Sanchez in 38% of voting intention, and in the IEP telephone survey the difference is only one point in favor of Sanchez32 versus 31), not only the crude block and pocket calculations count.
FP is also concerned that RP’s disruptive behavior does not excessively damage or delegitimize its aspirations for victory. And it needs celestial representatives in the final hour. According to a report by Gonzalo Márquez (@gmárquezp_) in X, RP had representatives in 32% of the Lima tables. FP only covered 5.6% of Lima. This gives an idea that, at least in Lima, the network of representatives managed by Luis Dyer needs celestial support. The preaching detached from Keiko on their representatives it will be invested. Now she is the one who is urgent.

Neither one nor the other
Until now, the most sought after to answer the ‘who do you love most’ of the second round is the fourth most voted, Jorge Nieto, candidate of the Good Government Party (PBG). He has said “I am going to start a consultation process, I am going to listen first.” Last Sunday I interviewed him on RPP and he insisted on that idea. He avoided any questioning about the conditions and requirements that his endorsed could meet. He seemed distant from Keiko but also of Sanchezof whom he said: “He has had arrangements with them (the members of the so-called ‘mafia pact’)(…). For the people who have covered, who have raised this slogan of ‘Not for these’, JP (Together for Peru, the party of Sanchez)”.
Do not rule out that the second round campaign ends without Nieto and the PBG leadership taking sides. They are preparing to challenge polarization. After all, as shown in an eloquent table from the latest report based on the IEP survey, Nieto’s votes would migrate in the second round almost equally to Keiko already Sanchez. The political capital of the yellow ‘donofrio’ will be based largely on being the hinge and faithful balance in Congress. An explicit endorsement of Sanchez oa Keikoit would depreciate it. For this reason, Flavio Figallo, practically elected senator of the PBG and general secretary of the party, responded negatively to an invitation to participate in a post-first round group, interested in creating consensus before a next government, convened from the Citizen Coalition (CC). Alfonso López Chauleader of Ahora Nación, read Figallo’s response in an interview in Ojo Público: “We have decided in the party not to participate,” said the ‘pebegista’.

Nieto expressed, in the last interview I did with him, his annoyance with the fact that Lopez Chau I would have read that personal message. It is worth the opportunity to show that the PBG’s strategy is to avoid aligning itself with any initiative that could be labeled leftist. The CC was born as a plural meeting at the dawn of the campaign, in 2024. It was promoted by unions, parties and independent personalities. He even called on progressive left candidates such as Nuevo Perú (today running to the hard left in the Venceremos alliance) and Ahora Nación; center-left like the Purple Party and People First; center-right like Rafael Belaúnde or Fiorella Molinelli e; even from the right, like the PPC. Nieto, whose strategy was to carry out a campaign of silent, low-profile tours, avoiding overexposure and wear and tear until breaking into the final stretch; He did not attend the invitations nor was he surprised, since his candidacy did not attract attention at that time. At no time did Juntos Por el Perú or its leader Roberto participate. Sanchez.
Until, after the first round, it was reactivated, not by the CC itself, but by a small group of spokespersons and party leaders convened from it. The idea was to discuss a joint position rejecting ‘fraud’ and advancing some consensus for the next five years: repeal ‘pro-crime’ laws, close the legislative pipeline with fiscal impact, combat insecurity, corruption, anemia and other unanimous scourges, as was shown to me in a draft document by one of the attendees. In a meeting attended by Lopez Chau with his coreligionists Carlomagno Salcedo and Mirtha Vásquez, Marisol Pérez Tello from Primero La Gente, Diana Álvarez Calderón from Libertad Popular, among others; Figallo also attended, invited by the promoters of the CC, María Eugenia Mohme and Javier Caravedo. There was talk of Nieto’s absence and someone suggested that Lopez Chau I would call him to invite him personally. The idea did not excite Lopez Chau. Then, the table asked Figallo to invite their leader. Flavio has confirmed to me that he took the proposal to Nieto and the party leadership. The refusal was written in a chat created by the group.
I spoke with another of the attendees, Salcedo, spokesperson and national secretary of doctrine of AN, to ask him if his party would support Sanchez and if it seemed to you that the reactivation of that diverse group could have the objective of obtaining a flow of sympathies towards JP led by AN. He flatly rejected this last hypothesis and told me: “What we have decided is that there is no possibility of agreeing on support for Keiko Fujimori. Therefore, there are two scenarios left, that of the other candidate or being neutral. We haven’t discussed yet whether we’re going to support anyone.” Unlike Nieto, I don’t think Lopez Chau resist a second round without stepping on the explicit backing stick. The unwavering anti-Fujimorism of his paintings such as Indira Huilca, Mirtha Vásquez or Ruth Luque, could bring him closer to Sanchez. At the same time, the self-criticism of the progressive left for fixing the disaster of inefficiency and corruption that Castillo caused could slow down or relativize support for the hat’s successor. AN’s is a Hamletian dilemma.
I tried to contact Daniel Barragán, who could be the leader of the Obras bench, Ricardo Belmont’s party, but I did not receive a response. Vladimir Meza, president of País Para Todos, the party that nominated Carlos Álvarez did respond to me and told me that they have carefully analyzed their votes, including those of the minutes observed, and they are convinced that they will only jump one fence, that of the chamber of deputies with 7 seats (the minimum requirement to maintain registration). That depends on the table-to-table fights between party officials, to save or annul votes from the large number of white and corrupt votes. “We will wait for the results to be announced and there we will communicate if we support someone as a party,” Valdimir told me. He cannot speak for Carlos Álvarez who is a member but not a member of the party’s political commission. In fact, Keiko He will seek explicit support from Carlos.
Although without a bench, the parties and candidates who were closest to the fence and gained notoriety will be tempted to express support and the conviction that they should think very hard about it. For example, Marisol Pérez Tello, assistant to the group convened by the CC, has told those around her that she will not support in any way or Keiko nor to Sanchezbut that will not necessarily be the position of his Primero La Gente party. We will see the parade of former candidates and personalities, some histrionic, others timidly chewing their doubts, others strategically mute.
