The AuDelices Road has reopened to motorists after crews cleared debris from a landslide that disrupted the safe movement of vehicles over the weekend.
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities and the Digital Economy, Lynn Delsol, said the clearing work has been completed and expressed appreciation to the heavy-equipment operator, technical personnel and others who helped restore access.
Delsol said the Ministry is aware of the ongoing challenges affecting the section of roadway and has carried out several technical assessments of the area.
In a written statement, she said she will visit the site with members of the Ministry’s technical team to examine the current conditions, determine whether additional immediate work is necessary and follow up on recommendations for addressing the situation over the longer term.
The Acting Permanent Secretary also recognized the road’s importance to residents and communities in the surrounding area and said the Ministry remains committed to finding a lasting solution.
“We recognise the need for a permanent solution and remain committed to working towards the most appropriate way forward, taking into consideration the technical recommendations and the resources required,” Delsol said.
She added that the Ministry will continue monitoring the affected area.
Motorists and other road users are being urged to exercise caution when travelling along the roadway, including reducing their speed and remaining alert, particularly when heavy rainfall occurs.
The Ministry has also thanked residents and members of the travelling public for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the disruption.
