Dominica Senior Men’s National Football Team Head Coach Kurt Herd has announced a revamped 20-man squad for the country’s final two CONCACAF Nations League B fixtures, introducing six overseas-based players set to make their senior international debuts.
According to a media release from the Dominica Football Association (DFA), the Bouyon Boys are scheduled to face Puerto Rico on Friday, November 13, and the Cayman Islands on Tuesday, November 17. Both matches will be played in Guyana. Marcus Bredas will captain the team.
The new additions—goalkeeper Shamal George, defender Harvey-Joe Bertrand, midfielder Trevine Esprit, and forwards Malachi Sharpe, Jayden Carbon, and Theo Jeremy—are expected to add quality and a different dynamic to the national team.
“We’ve changed things a little bit. On and off the field we’re going to shake things up, and we’ll see that with the squad that we’re going to select,” Herd stated.
Goalkeeper Shamal George, who plays for English club Bromley, joins the squad alongside 17-year-old goalkeeper Dwight Eloi. Herd noted he had been monitoring George for some time before reaching an agreement with the player and his club, while describing Eloi as an exciting young talent with significant potential.
In defense, Harvey-Joe Bertrand joins from Dorchester. The versatile right-back can also operate as a center-back or wing-back. The midfield welcomes Trevine Esprit, who brings experience from the Canadian Premier League. The attacking department sees the most significant modifications. The new options are headlined by former Manchester United youth player and former Scotland youth international Malachi Sharpe, who can play across the wings, in midfield, or as a number ten. Joining him upfront are Jayden Carbon, who plays for Middlesbrough and has Scottish Championship experience with Ross County, and Theo Jeremy, a professional for Europa Point in Gibraltar who developed within the youth systems of Plymouth Argyle, Aston Villa, and Bristol City.
The squad also features several returning players. Dhamario Challenger returns after missing the previous international window due to injury, and Donte Warrington also rejoins the setup. Tobi Jno Hope retains his place following his senior debut in the last window, while Reon Cuffy remains an important attacking option after scoring two of the three goals recorded during Herd’s first seven matches in charge.
The DFA expressed its appreciation to those who facilitated the participation of the new overseas professional players, extending special recognition to the Ministry of Labour for its support in the process.
