On October 31st at 4pm, at the Santa Croce Convent, an afternoon of spirituality, fourteenth-century frescoes and music. The proceeds will be donated to AVSI projects.
Art, history and music meet at Villa Verucchio for an afternoon dedicated to Saint Francis and his spiritual legacy. On Saturday 31 October, at 4pm, the Convento Santa Croce, in via Convento 150A, will host the third edition of the initiative promoted by the friends of “Fino a Noi”, this year in collaboration with “Il Portico del Vasaio”.
The event will accompany participants in discovering the link between the Saint and the Rimini area, through the story of his journey, the visit to the recently restored fourteenth-century frescoes of the convent, and the rediscovery of Rimini saints and blesseds who followed his charisma. The musical group Swingeneris will intertwine words and music.
One of the most significant moments will be the visit to the frescoes attributed to Pietro da Rimini, an exponent of the Rimini school of Giotto, discovered a few years ago after having remained hidden for centuries. In September 2021, Brother Federico identified a painted niche by introducing a cell phone with the video camera turned on into a crack behind the fifteenth-century wooden choir. The paintings include a Christ in Pietà in the lunette, Saint Francis, theosculum pacisfemale profiles and the skull of Adam under a partially lost Crucifixion, accompanied by a Latin inscription.
The initiative was born from the desire not to remain indifferent to the situations of suffering in the world, particularly in Ukraine and the Holy Land. For three years the group has joined the AVSI “Tents” initiatives, promoting opportunities for meeting and testimony. The proceeds of the event, free of charge, will support the organization’s projects as part of this year’s fundraising campaign, entitled “Peace is a humble path, let’s walk it together”.
After the events of recent years in the churches of Sant’Agostino and San Giuliano, the choice of San Francesco is part of the path towards the Franciscan centenary and enhances a spiritual and artistic heritage deeply linked to the territory.
An afternoon that combines culture, beauty and solidarity, born from a friendship and designed to generate new relationships.
