The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, called on American companies to seize the investment opportunities available in the sector, whether in the field of exploration and field development, or in manufacturing industries, digitization, and modern technological solutions, as well as projects to reduce the carbon footprint, according to a statement by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.
This came during the Minister’s reception of the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America, Christopher Landau, who is on a working visit to Algeria.
According to the same statement, during this meeting, which took place in the presence of the President and Director General of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi, and officials from the Ministry, the two sides discussed the state of Algerian-American bilateral cooperation relations and the prospects for enhancing them, especially in the areas of hydrocarbons, in addition to ways to expand them towards other areas of common interest, such as the manufacture of equipment and supplies related to the oil and gas industry, reaffirming the common will to enhance dialogue and cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves their interests and contributes to achieving sustainable development. And balanced.
During the talks, the Minister of State stressed the importance of existing exchanges and consultations between Algerian and American companies, especially between the Sonatrach group and both ExxonMobil and Chevron, calling for expanding areas of cooperation to include the manufacturing industry and modern technologies, especially those related to reducing emissions, as well as research and development, innovation, and the exchange of experiences and training, especially in advanced technologies related to the oil and gas industry, according to the statement.
The Minister also reviewed, adds the statement, the strategy for developing the hydrocarbons sector in Algeria, which is based on intensifying exploration efforts, increasing production capabilities, and valuing resources, in addition to developing petrochemical industries and enhancing local content, while providing an attractive investment environment based on a stimulating legal framework, simplified procedures, and continuous accompaniment to investors.
For his part, Christopher Lando expressed his satisfaction with the level of distinguished relations between Algeria and the United States of America, praising the positive business climate that Algeria provides, and the confidence shown by American companies towards the Algerian market, stressing the interest of these companies in enhancing their presence and investments by establishing long-term partnerships with their Algerian counterparts, according to a statement by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.
