Aoun: The Lebanese are paying the price for Iran’s special interests – Saudi News

In response to Hezbollah’s rejection of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem does not represent all the Lebanese people, explaining that the Lebanese do not deserve to see their homes destroyed every 5 to 10 years. He added that the Lebanese put on his shoulders the task of ending the war.

Aoun said in an interview with CNN today (Friday): His message to Iran is that “our interests do not coincide with your interests,” stressing that “the Lebanese are paying the price for Tehran’s own interests.” Aoun called on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to realize that Lebanon is our country, not theirs.

The Lebanese President launched an attack on Iran, accusing it of exploiting Lebanon as a “negotiating card” in its conflict with the United States and Israel, and demanded that Tehran “stop interfering in Lebanese affairs.” He stressed that the Lebanese are “tired” of the war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Aoun considered that the Lebanese side had achieved a major breakthrough in the negotiations with Israel, stressing that “the agreement could be a path forward toward a just and lasting peace.”

For his part, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Al-Salam reiterated that this war taking place in the south is not a “Lebanon war.”

During the “Launching the Second Urgent Humanitarian Appeal” conference today, Salam called on Tehran to stop exploiting southern Lebanon as a card to strengthen its position at the negotiating table. He said: “Iran must have mercy on our south, and stop dealing with it and its people as a card to improve the conditions for negotiations.”

He added that the Lebanese are placing the responsibility of ending the war on him.

Aoun stated in an interview with CNN today (Friday) that his message to Iran is that “our interests do not align with yours,” emphasizing that “the Lebanese are paying the price for Tehran’s own interests.” Aoun urged the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to realize that Lebanon is our country, not theirs.
