The 2026 Sailing week culminated on Monday, April 6, with the prize- giving ceremony at Plantation Bequia, and according to the event director, it was an amazing weekend of sailing across St Vincent and the Grenadines, especially on Bequia.
Aina Browne, who is the Quality Development Manager at the SVG Tourism Authority, expressed being excited to celebrate with the visiting sailors and sending them off in fine Vincy style.
The team from Nirvana left as the overall winner in the Cruising Class, and also took the top spot on the final day of racing- Monday, April 6, while in the Racing Class, the crew from Dingolay was first in Monday’s final race, and first overall.
Browne said just having the visitors come from all across the Caribbean and outside of the region, and just letting us know how much they have enjoyed coming to St Vincent, how much they enjoy the experience of sailing week 2026, there’s nothing better.
She said the aim this year was to ensure that not only the sailing assets of the destination were showcased, but also that visitors felt welcomed and enjoyed sailing Vincentian waters; goals she thinks we met. While only 15 boats of the 23 that registered competed this year, Browne noted that this was an improvement on the 11 that competed in 2025.
