To clear Yemeni lands of mines.
Extending the “Masam” project in Yemen for a year
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center today extended the contract for the implementation of the “Masam” project to clear Yemeni lands of mines for one year, for an amount of (52,531,168.65) US dollars.
The project is implemented by Saudi cadres and international expertise through Yemeni teams trained to remove mines of all shapes and forms planted randomly in Yemeni territory. With the aim of clearing it of the dangers of mines by addressing direct threats to the lives of innocent people resulting from exposure to the dangers resulting from the spread of these mines, the project also implements training and capacity building activities in Yemen in the field of mine clearance.
His Excellency the Advisor at the Royal Court and the General Supervisor of the Center, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, confirmed that the renewal of this contract with the implementing partner comes from the Center’s sense of humanitarian responsibility towards the brothers in Yemen, given the great importance this specific project represents in completing the cleansing of Yemeni lands from mines that were planted randomly and in various forms and camouflage in places targeting defenseless civilians, and caused permanent injuries, chronic disabilities, and numerous human losses, and created fear in the hearts of people. It claimed the lives of everyone, especially children, women and the elderly, explaining that the project has been able to date to recover (567,182) anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, unexploded ordnance and various shells.
His Excellency extended his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them – for the major humanitarian and relief efforts they provide that have contributed to alleviating the suffering of many needy and affected countries and peoples around the world, especially the brotherly Yemeni people.
