Recent economic data revealed a historic jump in the number and size of the wealth of the richest people around the world during the current year, as the Forbes list witnessed the addition of 3,428 investors and entrepreneurs, achieving a remarkable increase of 400 people compared to the statistics of 2025.
According to data updated until the end of April 2026, technology entrepreneur Elon Musk has been at the top of the world with an astronomical wealth that has reached $778.1 billion, far outperforming his closest competitor Larry Page, who came in second with a wealth estimated at about $286 billion.
The total wealth of the world’s wealthy people has reached a record amount of $20.1 trillion, an increase of $4 trillion over last year.
Reports indicate that the total combined wealth of the individuals included in the list has broken the $20 trillion barrier for the first time, which reflects significant economic growth in the technology and investment sectors despite global challenges, as the annual increase in total wealth reached about $4 trillion.
