The non-profit association stallionformed by the architects Gerard Neighbor, Lluís Ginjaueme, Andrea Doncel i Gerard Fontanetwas presented this Thursday with the intention of introducing and promoting cooperative housing in Andorra, a residential model that does not yet exist in the Principality and that its members consider a feasible and complementary alternative to the growing difficulties in accessing housing in the country. In fact, the architect of the study height and member of the organization, which plans to be officially established in two weeks, Lluís Ginjaume, explained that “currently there would be thirty people who would be interested in the cooperative housing model a Andorra“.
Ginjaume he also explained that they have been explaining the cooperative housing model since 2023 and that, since then they have met with him Governmentwith communes and also with banks and that tomorrow they have a meeting with theHousing Institute to present the project. “The feedback we have received from institutions in general has been positive. Banks are increasingly interested in more social or sustainable models,” he declared Ginjaume.
Estaló’s proposal is based on housing cooperatives in transfer of use, in which the residents do not buy or rent the flats in a conventional way, but are part of a collective project that guarantees residential stability, encourages community management and prioritizes the use of housing over speculation. The function of the association, “open to everyone who is interested”, as one of its members has underlined, Gerard Neighborgoes beyond promoting and explaining this residential alternative, since it also aims to accompany people and groups interested in this model, as well as identify public and private companies that can host these projects and advise administrations and users in the deployment of the cooperative housing model.
