A Russian missile, probably from the Pancir air defense system, hit a tank with oil products in Moscow. An inaccurate rocket subsequently detonated the lid of the oil tank. This is proven by the videos that spread on social networks and were subsequently analyzed by the media. It happened during the morning attack of Ukrainian attack drones on the Russian metropolis.
A video posted by user Horat1us_UA on Reddit purports to show a missile hitting an oil product warehouse. After the explosion, the upper part of the tank should have flown into the air. According to the portal, the characteristic trace of an anti-aircraft missile can also be seen in the images.
Astra Telegram channel statedthat one of the explosions in the Moscow refinery in Kapotna was caused by a Russian anti-aircraft missile. According to the OSINT channel, an Astra analyst based on the video came to the conclusion that the explosion occurred immediately after the missile was launched and hit the oil product warehouse. “This is evidenced by the characteristic condensation trail, according to which the flight trajectory of the missile can be determined,” Astra wrote, adding that, according to its findings, it should have been a missile from the Pancir air defense system.

Militarnyi writes that several inaccurate hits were recorded during the attack. According to the portal, this may indicate that the 9M335/57E6 missile guidance warheads may not be effective against targets such as drones.
On the morning of June 18, Ukrainian drones also hit the Moscow oil refinery in the Kapotňa district, where a large-scale fire reportedly broke out. Footage from local residents showed multiple fires in the plant area and thick black smoke rising over the city.
The refinery in Kapotna is among the ten largest oil refineries in Russia. It covers approximately 40 percent of the demand for oil products in the Moscow region, including Moscow and the surrounding area. Its capacity is 11 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces gasoline AI-80EK, AI-92EK and AI-95EK, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, bitumen, sulfur and various polymers.
At night, Ukrainian drones also hit an oil warehouse in the city of Gukovo in the Rostov Region. According to the portal, tanks with oil products caught fire there. The governor of the Rostov region said that after the attack, “two fires broke out in commercial facilities” and a diesel locomotive was also damaged.
Witnesses reported a series of explosions at an industrial facility and drone flights before the attack.
